Dear Students and Alumni-

With the economy hurting, and gas and food costs steadily rising, it is a hard time for many people across the country and even those living here in Middle Tennessee.  Did you know that Second Harvest Food Bank Emergency Food Box program serves a crucial role in feeding hungry people during times of crisis?

With food pantries quickly depleting and the need for food going up, Nonprofit Leaders Association of Tennessee State University (NLA) will be coordinating its First Annual Face of Hunger Food Drive over the next 31 days of March with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.  We will have drop-off boxes located at the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs to collect donations and I am encouraging you to participate and spread the word!

The most needed items are peanut butter, canned chicken/tuna, canned fruit/vegetables, soups, stews, pasta, and cereal.  Second Harvest will not accept dented cans or expired food and prefers not to receive donations in glass containers.

This is a great way for us to help and serve our community and together we can make a difference.  Thank you for making NLA's First Annual Face of Hunger Food Drive a success.

My very best,

Lindsay Gilmore
